Facing Crossroads and Creating Your Own Path

While stuck in Sunflower fields forever. And in a gorgeous yellow jcrew shirt dress and the most stylish, eco friendly walking shoes ever (rothy’s in case you’ve been under a rock)… of course! But seriously y’all, why are some decisions so hard to make? Do you ever feel like you just want to escape the entire decision making process all together? It sometimes seems so challenging to know what the “right” decision is, maybe because of fear or something else holding us back. In a perfect world, we would all just let it go and find it effortless and easy to find and create our own path. But no one said chasing your dreams our listening to your heart would be easy…

Nevertheless, it’s important to do so. Whether its deciding on a big move, where you should plant your roots, where your career is headed, to start a family, to take that trip you’ve been planning for so long, etc. etc. The list goes on and on. These are all really important life decisions and sometimes which path to take isn’t always so clear. So what do I do? Follow the road that leads to happiness. Sounds simple right?

It’s not always that simple though which path to take. I feel like my husband and I have faced so many different challenges over the last couple years as well as embraced so much change, that we’ve gotten really good at planning for the unexpected and learning to lean on each other. When one is down, the other lifts the other up. It’s nice to have such great support whether it’s through your spouse, close friends, family or professional adviser, when making tough decisions. And at some point or another we all face these “big, tough decisions”. So what else do I do? I pray. I close my eyes and ask God to show me the way, to show me a sign. Because I believe he does have a plan for me and for us. I also close my eyes and envision what the outcome of each decision would be like. I weigh the pro’s and con’s in each vision.

That all being said, sometimes it’s still difficult, so I rely on my intuition and the current reality. I rely on what I know of my soul and character to be true. And that is that I am one determined, driven person that usually doesn’t give up, even when facing a hard situation. So if I’ve envisioned something, like a goal or dream, and that requires a big change or decision, you better be sure my soul is going to go for it and failure won’t be an option.

Recently I find myself again at a crossroads with some big life decisions, so I continue to do all of the things I mentioned above and pray I make the right choices. Only time will tell. For now, that’s all I can say, so I’ll leave you with that. But I hope you know you’re not alone in your challenge of making decisions here and I hope this has shed more honest and open light on my decision making process to help you in yours.

*Style tip: Dress fits True To Size, but there’s little difference between the 0 and 2. I’ve got this dress in two colors, one in a 0, the other a 2. Wearing the 0 here. Also this dress would transition easily to Fall with it’s golden color. Just pair it with leopard mules or booties and throw on a black or tan trench coat.
