Fall Foliage Heaven in Vermont

Calling all my basic chicks and leaf lovers (I’m only half joking). I’ve officially found Fall Foliage heaven and it’s in Vermont!! Every year my husband and I take a “Leaf Peeping” trip to experience the mountain life, cool Autumn air, and the gorgeous colors of the tree’s as the leaves transition, peak and fall to the ground. It’s a sea of beautiful color if you can time it just right (easier said than done). My advice…

You can google foliage forecast and whatever state it is that you live in or plan to visit and see a guide for years past and what they’re expecting this year at different elevations around the town, however sometimes they aren’t fully accurate despite doing their best. Guess you really can’t predict the weather right?

Or you can ask a local, which is exactly what I did this go around and it was so helpful! We stayed at the Four Chimney’s Inn, in Bennington this year (more to come on that with travel recommendations) and the owner Lynn, who has lived there for years is the absolute sweetest human being and was so kind to help us in planning and timing our trip. Pretty much she told us that anywhere from the first weekend in October through the weekend that we went (10/18/19) is their peak time for leaves changing, and that if you take a 20 minute drive in either direction, you are sure to catch some beautiful foliage color. We choose the last weekend of their typical peak because in years past that is what’s always worked for us in case the leaves are a little behind schedule (which I’ve found to be the case the last three years). The leaves were absolutely stunning this year! You saw all kinds of color on your drive throughout the different elevations and climates and it was just breathtaking.

So what does one wear for their picturesque Fall trip you may be thinking? Well it’s clear that Over The Knee boots are a seasons must have staple piece you will wear over and over (have had these designer dupe ones 2 years now going strong- more details on those here.) You’ll want to be cute but also comfortable, so I’d opt for a lower heel, and layers. Bring on the layers! Like this adorable Loft Leopard puffer vest, and skirt with mock neck sweater combo. With it being beautiful Fall temps, you’ll want to take advantage of wearing skirts and boots before it turns to Winter and gets too chilly! This outfit is all 40% off and made for the perfect leaf peeping look while in Vermont!

More to come from our trip and some must see’s in the area, but I’ll leave you with that for now! Happy Fall y’all! Shop The Look below.
