How to Dress for Fall When You Live by the Water

Hello friends and welcome to my second Fall blog of the season! Fall is finally just a couple of weeks away now and I’m so excited and in full on prep mode for one of my favorite seasons! I have a love for all things Fall. However, having always lived in the South, (previously near the water in Florida) I’ve found it challenging in the past to dress for the season when temps are still a bit warmer down here by the water. Not any more though…

I was so excited to hear one of my favorite brands Cabana Life, was launching their first ever Fall line, which perfectly addressed my dilemma of how to dress, for those days I want to start transitioning to Fall fashion but I’m still going to the beach or lake in 70+ degree daytime weather!

One of the things I love about this brand among many others (like approachable pricing and their fun design prints), is the fact that the clothing is UPF 50+ protective and preventative of sun damage, which we all know leads to early aging, or worse—skin cancer.

That being said and having previously worked in dermatology, I’ve learned it’s so important to protect your skin, even on those overcast Autumn days, and especially in those coastal areas close to the sun! And we want to of course look cute and ready for Fall at the same time, am I right friends?!

So while exploring Navy Pier all afternoon recently, it was a no brainer for what to wear. I adore the nautical design and Fall colors of these two dresses I’m sharing with you today. Both great outfit options for all things Fall and Sunny! Annnd you can use code FRAPPSANDFRILLS20 for 20% off your order if you’d like!

So First up, is this gorgeous tunic dress. To incorporate more Fall vibes while dressing weather appropriate at Navy Pier, I paired it with dark camel colored wedges and the same hue wicker bag. It’s the perfect Fall neutral that compliments the navy and burgundy in the dress. I also opted to bring a lightweight cashmere sweater in the same burgundy color found on the dress. It’s so easy to through that over your shoulders or over top of the dress as the sun starts to set and the breeze picks up and made for a super cute and Fall ready nautical look-especially in the windy city.

I mean how gorgeous is this print and the colors of it though?! Screams Fall at the lake house for sure!

The second button down dress is perfect for all my shades of red lovers, as it is the perfect shade of a deep Fall red. It still gives off nautical, classic-preppy vibes with the gorgeous navy collar, cuffs and print too. To keep it coastal and to tie in the dainty gold detail buttons on this dress, I opted to keep on the Seashell earrings in the most perfect gold hue. When I think of Fall I think of rich details, and bold colors which is why the gold shell earrings and crimson berry lips worked just right. Again, even if it’s still warm enough for wedges and sandals just go for that darker camel color to accessorize for Fall like I did here with the same bag and wedges.
